Associate General Counsel

Clay Willett

Clay is an Associate General Counsel at Trinity. He works with companies during the initial closing process of their debt facilities and continues to support Trinity’s portfolio companies through the life of their debt facilities. Prior to working at Trinity, Clay was an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, LLP where he was a member of the private funds group in Cleary’s New York and London offices. At Cleary, Clay assisted private equity sponsors in the organization and operation of their private investment vehicles as well as institutional investors in their investments in private funds across various sectors.

Clay received his BA from the University of Arizona and his JD from New York Law School, magna cum laude. He is an active member of the New York Bar Association and a registered in-house counsel in Arizona.

Clay lives in downtown Phoenix with his dog, Maple. Together they enjoy visiting the park and trying out new dog-friendly bars and coffeeshops. Clay also loves a good Suns or Coyotes game!

He served as general partner at Point Financial Capital Partners, a venture leasing fund and held a prior role as the president and CFO of InvestLinc Financial Services, an early-stage private equity fund and consulting firm. He has also worked as a partner at Cornerstone Equity Partners, a private equity fund.

Brown has a B.S. in business administration and marketing from McNeese State University and is a current Small Business Investor Alliance – Western Regional Committee member.

Growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana left a lasting impression on Brown. He is an avid LSU fan and loves a good bowl of spicy gumbo on a cold day.
