The ideal candidate understands equity and debt investment valuation and investment company accounting. The Senior Analyst, Portfolio Valuations role covers a wide range of responsibilities that include acting as the liaison with the external valuation firms, Trinity’s portfolio management and finance teams as well as the external auditors in order to support the monthly and quarterly valuation processes. 

This position will work closely with The Director of Portfolio Valuation, COO and CFO to continue to improve and build out best practice valuation reporting. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with solid interpersonal skills, at least 4 years of accounting/finance experience, and a strong work ethic who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial financial services business. It is important for this individual to have the highest ethical standards and to fit into a company culture of integrity, humility, honesty, and transparency. This individual should be able to work independently and be engaged with a collaborative team environment that values continuous learning. This full-time position will report to the Director of Portfolio Valuations and is based on-site, at our Phoenix, AZ office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the debt and equity portfolio valuation process including preparation of complex valuation models for the Company’s investment portfolio on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Assist with quarterly/annual audit of the Company’s investment valuations and coordination of auditor requests 
  • Preparation of valuation committee materials and reporting to senior management 
  • Ensure valuation process maintains effective SOX compliance 
  • Continuously improving valuation processes by utilizing new technologies
  • Coordinate with VP of Finance to calculate and record journal entries for valuation related transactions
  • Primary point of contact for third party valuation firms including the review of the third party valuation reports and resolve any discrepancies
  • Frequent communication with the industry valuation experts and understands how the macro-economic trends impact the Company’s portfolio valuations

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field required
  • A minimum of 4 years successful experience in a similar role at a listed public company or nationally recognized provider of third party valuation services
  • Preferred CPA, CFA or MBA
  • Previous experience in public accounting and experience in a similar role at a BDC or private credit asset manager
  • Detailed understanding of the models and processes used for valuation of debt and equity securities
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations as applicable to 40 Act vehicles
  • Deep understanding of SOX controls processes and testing
