Richard Nelson
Richard Nelson manages the Credit process for Trinity Capital. In this role, he is instrumental in screening, analyzing and executing investment activities, providing modelling and analysis for a wide variety of investment decisions, and making recommendations on investment opportunities. As a founder of multiple startups, Nelson has extensive experience in project management, process development and control and quality engineering. He was a founder in multiple startups during his career, which allows him to leverage this expertise to evaluate investment opportunities including the underlying technologies and go-to-market strategies of our potential customers.
Nelson has been with Trinity for 7 years. Prior to joining Trinity, Nelson spent over 25 years developing new technology in the semiconductor industry. He has developed manufacturing and qualification processes across multiple companies in the commercial, military, and space arenas.
Nelson has an established track record of bringing semiconductor products to market, working with Synaptics, Sand9, Validity Sensors, National Semiconductor, Vivid Semiconductor and Medtronic.
Nelson holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He holds issued and published applications of 13 patents and enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
