Trinity Capital Investment, a leading provider of venture loans and equipment leases for emerging growth companies, is looking for an experienced Life Sciences professional to join its world-class team in San Diego, California.

Job Description

The position title will reflect the experience of the successful candidate. The role will report to the Chief Credit Officer and will be responsible for working with the Life Sciences Business Unit Leader in supporting and managing the Company’s life sciences credit strategy. This position will be located at Trinity’s new office in San Diego, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Support and manage the Company’s life sciences credit strategy
  • Maintain and refine underwriting criteria that are appropriate for venture funded, growth stage companies
  • Evaluate prospective portfolio companies against predetermined criteria, and determine their suitability for growth debt
  • Oversee and assist the deal team in conducting deep-dive analyses of prospective portfolio companies
  • Manage and participate in the due diligence process, including calls with candidate company’s executive management, investors, and customers
  • Clearly communicate the credit decisions to the Partners, Originations team, and candidate companies
  • Direct the Due Diligence Team on a day-to-day basis
  • Assist and mentor junior analysts in their professional development
  • Occasional domestic travel will be required

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a life sciences credit role
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a life sciences credit role specifically focused on venture-funded companies
  • Experienced with the credit risks associated with a wide variety of healthcare verticals, including medical device, diagnostics, healthcare technology, biotechnology, and more.
  • Extensive experience interfacing with venture equity investors

Additional Qualifications (desired but not required)

  • MBA or MS in Finance
  • Experience working in a venture-funded start-up company
  • Equity investment experience
  • Experience with credit decisions for venture-backed life sciences companies
